At the start of group 8 the reading level has to be at least AVI E7 and in the end it has to be AVI E8. It is important that the speed of reading is fast because they will work a lot on reading and understanding. The level of understanding from from what has been read, is also very important for the mathematics results on school (story sums are most asked on tests).
For mathematics they have to be able to make calculations until 10.000 and they will start with long division to calculate big devision sums. In group 8 they will work a lot on word naming and grammar rules, to prepare them already for the ‘Doorstroom toets’ in the middle of group 8.
After winter break there is the last test from primary school; ‘Eind-toets’. With this test the advise from the child can only become higher and cannot go down. This means there is less pressure on this last test and can make the children a bit more relaxed before making this final test.
The reading level at the end of group 8 has to be at least: AVI E8. Being able to read long books and articles is very important.
